After Their Stay

Pets do not have a “sense of time” like humans do; therefore, your pet will be very excited to see you when you pick him up from ABC (even if it's only been a short visit)! Many pets become overly excited, which can cause excessive panting, and can actually stimulate overeating and drinking. Please do not allow your pet to overeat or drink too much water for at least three hours after you arrive home!

PACCC Certification

Continued learning and facility/individual certification sets ABC apart from other area facilities. Our General Manager, Jennifer, is independently certified as a Certified Professional Animal Care Operator (CPACO), through the Professional Animal Care Certification Council (PACCC). Jennifer, a Colorado State University graduate, has been with ABC since June 2016. Her extensive experience with both large and small animal husbandry coupled with her team leadership background has made her a valued part of the ABC team.

What does this mean for you, the pet-parent?

Virtually every industry offers a level of high-quality independent certification except the pet care services industry…until now! PACCC, a non-profit created by a team of industry experts, has closed the gap by providing independent certification, using testing from industry developed standards, clearly identifying the premier professional animal care providers in our industry. Both providers and pet parents benefit from the implicit distinctions a reputable and objective third-party certification provide

What is a CPACO?

An Operator is responsible for the overall operation of a professional pet care business. An Operator is a pet care expert committed to animal care excellence, who provides a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for pet companions, the individuals who care for those companions, and all who visit the business.

Memorial Day (May 25th & 26th)

Mental and physical stimulation for the pups! We are doing activities ranging from art classes to agility exercises.

The Adventure Academy is offered as a daycare add-on for the individual activities you want your dog to participate in, or you can join the academy and get all four monthly enrichment activities.

Training on Daycare Days!

Mini Sessions During Daycare Breaks: Since your dog is daycare-approved, he or she can enjoy mini training sessions during the daycare breaks. These sessions last 15-20 minutes and focus on core obedience behaviors. A report card with homework is provided after every 5 sessions. This option is an additional $25 per day on top of regular daycare fees, with availability on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Looking for an exciting way to keep your pet engaged, active, and happy throughout the year? Welcome to Adventure Academy—our exclusive membership program designed to offer your furry friend enriching experiences every month! You can pick up the full-years calendar at reception for just $20!

Membership Details

For just $50 per month, your pet will enjoy access to 4 exciting, themed activities each month. From art projects and treat puzzles to agility games and sniff adventures, every event is thoughtfully designed to provide mental stimulation and physical fun.

A painting activity where dogs use their paws to create winter-inspired artwork with pet-safe paint.
Jan 29th - Igloo Hide & Seek
Dogs explore tunnels or boxes acting as 'igloos,' encouraging curiosity and active play.

Your Dog's New Year's Resolutions!

I will become best friends with the mailman or anyone delivering packages. I will not chase his truck or jump on him.
If I get sick in the middle of the night, I will try to make it to the toilet. If not, I will try and hit the tile versus the carpeting.
I will not eat my poop, the cat's poop, or another dog's poop. I also will not eat the baby diapers.
I will lounge around the house less, and take more zoomie laps around the house!
I will be less afraid of the vacuum or other things that make loud noises - but I'm not making ANY promises about the fireworks on the 4th of July or New Year's Eve.
I will try not to talk to you (aka, bark at you) when you are on the phone.
I won't nudge you at your desk when you are busy working...but it really is all about me, isn't it?
I will not freak out when you leave the house, but I get so bored and miss you when you aren't there. Maybe you could take me to daycare?
I'll stop counter-surfing if you promise to sneak me some table scraps.
I will chew up your New Year's Resolution list so you don't have to feel bad when you break your good intentions to spend more time with me!

What I am not changing

I will continue to fart and not feel bad about it.
If you smell like another dog, I will have questions

(aka, bark at you).

I will continue to chase squirrels.

Did you know?

Suzanne and Al Locker have an impressive background in the pet care industry. They founded ABC Pet Resort & Spa in 1991 and since then, have made significant contributions to the industry. Suzanne served on the American Boarding Kennel Association (ABKA) Board of Directors for eight years, representing pet facility owners in the southern states. The Lockers also served as Co-Chairs of the Voluntary Facilities Accreditation Committee, which established standards for pet care facilities and shelters worldwide. They are frequently invited to speak at seminars for industry organizations, local schools, business chambers, and groups around the world.

In addition to their pet care expertise, Al Locker also owns Turnkey, Inc., a design/build construction company that has been serving the Houston area for over 60 years. With his vast knowledge of pet facility ownership, design, and construction, Al has designed over 100 pet facilities and veterinary clinics in the United States and built 17 in the Houston area. His expertise in the pet industry is highly sought after. It continues to be our honor to be a part of your lives, and we look forward to many more years to come. We are aware of our responsibility to always be good stewards of your hard-earned dollars. At the same time, we pledge to provide the best pet and pet-parent experience.

As an organization, ABC has maintained current service rates for as long as it was fiscally possible. However, it has become necessary to modestly increase some of our service rates to keep up with the rising cost of doing business, and most importantly, navigating the challenging labor market.

Effective November 1st, 2024, the following price changes will go into effect. Thank you so much for being a part of the ABC family. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve you!

As we navigate the summer season at our daycare, our primary focus remains on the well-being and comfort of every furry companion in our care. With a keen eye on the heat index, we have strategically placed large fans to ensure optimal air circulation.

Additionally, our daycare yard is equipped with doggy pools and buckets brimming with cool, fresh water, providing a refreshing oasis for our pets to enjoy.

To offer respite from the sun's rays, we have -thoughtfully arranged tents and gentle misters that offer a cool, soothing mist.

Rest assured, the health and safety of each pet entrusted to us is our utmost priority, and we are committed to providing a nurturing and comfortable environment for all our furry friends.

Yellow-Band Collars

Keeping our guests safe and secure has always been a top priority for us. For years, we attached ID bands with the pet’s name printed on them and placed around his neck while he was with us. During Co-Vid we weren’t able to get the ID bands, but happily, this month we are able to implement the yellow-band collar protocol again! They are important for identity purposes when giving meds, to ensure we have the “right” black lab for a service, and to be prepared in case the unthinkable happens with an “escape artist”! Having proper ID and the safe-keeping of your pet is first and foremost always at ABC!
